I have two peeves to peeve about today.

One is people who bring up rather inflammatory topics of conversation, make sweeping statements that have no justification in anything, and then, when someone tries to engage with them, retreat to saying "well, we're all correct, really, and all I'm saying is [statement so vague and general that it's basically meaningless/self-evident and has nothing to do with their initial claim.]" Maybe I mainly object to people claiming really stupid things about fields that I'm not hugely expert in, because I don't feel that I have the authority be as effective at smacking them down, especially when they are my relatives. (ALSO: dear Uncle, the fact that you see blacks at the gym who appear to be quite muscular IS NOT IN ANY WAY legitimate evidence for the claim that "Africans are just stronger and more physical than white people, genetically.")

The other is articles that sound like they should be really awesome, based on the title and abstract, and then turn out to be tedious and not very interesting at all.
