I have a weird sense of protectiveness toward Thomas More largely because my adviser was an early-Tudor specialist and More was pretty much at the center of his dislike of Catholics, which often came up in various ha-ha-only-serious contexts. By his account I do not, being a nice person and all, count as a Catholic, but since I was still actively practicing in grad school that didn't help and in fact made me quite angry. (I still have this icon though.)

I am also sort of allergic to Hilary Mantel for reasons completely unrelated to Tudor religious politics.
