Hmmm...I'd never noticed that the percentage of girls who write seems to be higher. But then, it also seems to me that there are more girls who read for pleasure than there are boys, so it kind of makes sense that girls would write more, as well.
To add to your list: Vicky Austin of A Ring of Endless Light (and all the rest, however many there are) writes poetry, but most of it is fairly good.
And...I'm blanking, even though I know there are others.
There are a couple of literary exceptions, though-- Helmholtz Watson in Brave New World writes truly atrocious poetry, for example.
And then there's the guy in The Savage Damsel and the Dwarf who write sonnets to his lady's eyebrow.
...but then, I guess this kind of parallels the whole "young male poet" thing you were talking about. :P
