Oh, I used to do exactly the same thing; I've no idea why... (I also used to pretend to be worried about exams I knew I was really well prepared for, and pretend to think I'd done badly when I knew I'd almost certainly done ok. Which is even odder).

And I've been listening to Handel's Messiah today, because as a lapsed Christian I felt today was sort-of missing something, so I rather sympathise with those thoughts too.
