1. Eliot Spitzer: how CAN you have been being such an idiot? I remember my parents getting cranky during the Monica Lewinsky scandal, and storming around the house asking "how can such a smart man be so STUPID?" Given this business, Clinton suddenly seems rational by comparison.

I was about a second and a half too late in producing "Thou rather, with thy sharp and sulph'rous bolt, Splitst the unwedgeable and gnarled oak" when discussion veered off toward Zeus and the Indo-European significance of sky gods and oak trees. Still trying to decide whether Professor M. was trying to interject subtle commentary on current events, or whether I just have an impossibly one-track mind.
