So, listening to Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis is not a good idea when you're supposed to be writing a paper. Because it's really hard to concentrate on anything else. It's also kind of weird to be sitting, having this beautiful, awful(1) music in your ears watching people wander around completely oblivious.

Though said paper is progressing.

Something really neat we talked about the other day in class: the importance of one's sister's son in legends. He gave a bunch of examples, and I'm collecting more:

King Arthur and Sir Gawain
King Mark and Tristram
Charlemagne and Roland
Hyglac and Beowulf
Conchobor and Cuchulainn
Theoden and Eomer

Anyway, if you come up with any, I would be interested.

1)That would be "awful" in the sense of "inspiring awe."

And now, because I evidentally want to waste more time:

What is it with Anna and tricking people? First she gives me a floppy disk, then she gives you a wet rag...

I'm thinking she forgot to buy candy. Or else she just ate it all herself. :P

As for the sister's son thing...there's probably one in the Iliad, but since I've never actually *read* the Iliad, I'm blanking out on who it might be.

I feel like I know several more of these, but I'm drawing a blank. I'll come back if I have a miraculous brainwave.

The importance of the sister's child is interesting. It seems to be an extension of the Orphan Child storyline used in legends so often.

Right now I can't pull out any examples from my rusty brain. ....Maybe Isis and Horus (Isis was both the sister and wife of Osiris)? Horus also battled his father's brother, Set. I don't know if that is a good example of what you need.

I would definately read your essay on this, if you post it.

I'm not actually writing an essay on the "sister's son" idea. I just thought it was interesting.

I'm sure there's one in the Siegfried Cycle, but I don't really know it that well.

I totally didn't eat it all.
