People Like Me Just Shouldn't Travel

Ever.
After worrying about it for approximately two months, I am no longer particularly concerned about schlepping my stuff around campus tomorrow morning for class.
I am, however, worried about the shuttle. It says that they leave at 12:00 noon. I have class until 11:50. It shouldn't be a problem to get from class to the parking lot, but what if it is? What if the shuttle leaves early? What if I get on the wrong shuttle and end up going to JFK instead of to Albany?
My flight leaves at 3:30. That also shouldn't be a problem, as it takes 1.5 hours to get from campus to the airport. So I really have plenty of time. Except what if I don't? What if the shuttle leaves late, and there's traffic? The Albany Airport website said that one should arrive two hours early for flights. That's cutting it kind of close. And what if the shuttle breaks down? (They do break down). And, I haven't gotten any kind of reminder or anything for it. What if it's been canceled altogether?
And let's not even get into my being a very nervous flyer, and this being my first time flying alone. I'm scared. I'm really scared. And not just about the various horrible things that could happen to the plane. Airports are frantic, frightening places. And I'm flying on the busiest day of the year.
And they say that you can have one carry-on + one "personal item." I have my duffel bag (carry-on) and my bag (personal item), but I also have a bow-case. So I'll probably have to check the duffel, and that will take more time, plus I'll have to worry about getting it at the other end.

Date: 2005-11-23 04:07 am (UTC)I don't think you need to worry about the bow-case. That's relatively small, isn't it? In any case, as long as you can fit it all, they really don't care too much. Every single time we fly, my mother brings a carry-on suitcase, her purse, and a large paper grocery bag full of in-flight snacks for our family, and no one's ever stopped her from taking it all onboard before.
I'm sorry you're scared and stressed out. At least it will all be over by this time tomorrow night and you'll be with your family?
*more hugs*

Date: 2005-11-24 04:50 am (UTC)Just read the signs, walk promptly, and try not to have any decorative pins on or in your baggage, as it makes things unnecessarily complicated and annoying. You'll do fine. You're a capable person!
Granted, you'll have already done all this by the time you read this, but whatever. >_>;;;;;;;;;
