Not to beat a dead dog any more, but...
I was reading the editorials on http://www.mugglenet.com, and, gosh, the debate over whether Snape is evil or not sure is a lot like the pro/anti Richard one. I can practically see Desmond Seward and Charles Ross over there, sharpening their quills to patiently explain to all of us misguided folk exactly why Snape must be, and can be no other than (by Occam's Razor, by logic, by etc.) evil. And then there are the idealists coming up with convoluted by perfectly plausible theories in defense. And then there's me; the torn idealist.
