I am kind of obsessed with CookEatBlog; I've been drooling over all of their curries for the past few days, and I finally broke down and am making cardamom-lamb curry (with beef instead of lamb, because the lamb either didn't look good or was in too-large packages). I also had to control myself at the Indian grocery: 2-pound bags of coriander seeds! Ground turmuric in larger quantities than I buy all-purpose flour! White poppy seeds! But now I do have cardamom to bake with -- I have an idea about taking my grandmother's coffeecake recipe and making pistachio-marzipan - cardamom sweet rolls...

ALSO: Wouldn't Oedipus At Colonus make a great western? (Bitter mysterious old man shows up in town with his two daughters and on the run; sheriff promises to protect him; then the feud/shootout he's left behind catches up with them all.)

Heh. Something sort-of-kind of has been done: "Dateline: Colonus" by John M. Ford is a kind of 1960's-ish ...retelling. I wish I had an online link for you, but I don't :(

OH! I've actually read that! I had this feeling that the idea wasn't coming out of no where, but I couldn't figure out where.

You inspired me to get out my copy of Heat of Fusion and read it again... thanks! :)

That sounds like it would be an amazing spaghetti western.
